Commissions

If you are interested in a commission, please take a look at previous artworks to get a feel for the type of piece you would like. I will work from photographs provided by you as the basis for the artwork.

Timescales for commissions can vary depending on the size of the work and the medium used. This can be discussed as part of the conversation to discuss the requirement, however, if the piece is required for a special occasion or a specific date, then please provide as much notice as possible.

If you would like pet portrait photographs to be taken by me, then this is something that could be arranged.

STEP 1 - Size & Medium

Consider the size and medium that you would like the piece to be created in. Please take a look at Dave’s previous work and styles to help inform your thoughts.

STEP 2 - Find the Perfect Photograph

The higher resolution of the photograph the better, to enable us to capture more detail in the final piece. If you have more than one photograph that can also be helpful.

If there is more than one subject, we can also look to combine multiple photographs into your artwork.

STEP 3 - Provide Your Contact Details

Please note, there is no commitment when submitting the form, it is simply to provide information so that we can have a conversation about what you are looking for. Please provide the details below and any details about what you are looking for. You can also attach photographs to provide more of an idea of what you would like.

STEP 4 - Order the Commission

Following the review of any reference photographs and discussion with you on the approach for the artwork, we will confirm the price. If we do not feel that I could do justice to the image, this will be discussed early in the process.

The timescale for completing the artwork will also be discussed and is dependent on the medium and my availability. If the work is for a special occasion, please provide as much notice as possible to avoid disappointment.

In order to book your commission, there will be a deposit of 15% of the price, payable in advance. Work will commence following the receipt of the deposit and the balance of the price is payable on completion of your artwork.

STEP 5 - Producing the Artwork

Initially, I will create an initial draft layout or outline for the work for discussion prior to commencing the final piece. This will allow you to see the proportions of the work on the page/size you have chosen. If there are any changes you would like to make to the draft this is the time to discuss it, any changes after this point may be very difficult to change, as a lot of mediums are not very forgiving.

I will then use this draft as the basis for creating the final work. I only use professional quality mediums and surfaces/papers in my work and you will receive an original artwork produced by me, Dave Scanlon.

STEP 6 - Receive Your Artwork

Once completed, I will deliver your artwork or it can be collected, otherwise I will ship it via Recorded Courier.

Terms & Conditions

Commissions are subject to a 25% deposit upfront, which will be discussed when designing and agreeing your art piece.

All artwork created remains the copyright of DS Artworks. If any original photographs are supplied as part of the commission, the copyright of these photographs remains with you, the customer. As part of entering into the creation of the commission, the customer consents to DS Artworks being able to use images of the created work.

Commissions, Artwork and Prints may be supplied with a frame and any costs for this will be included in the price. Unless stated that the work is framed, then please assume that it
